AFRICA KILLS HER SON, THE WORLD LAUGHS AS WE MOURN!!!!

It was on Thursday 20th October when I got the news. Was browsing on Facebook when suddenly I started seeing everyone who is techno-savy write home about Slain Libyan leader Colonel Muammar Gaddafi. So the guy with the dream of a United State of Africa was no more. That didn’t surprise me at all. It was due anyway. The Jasmine or Arab revolution was really at the heart of things here and there was every attempt to ensure that he is captured and/or slain to ensure a so-called revolutionary principle. This was no damn revolution in the first place, as someone had an interest in Libya and its vast oil resources. Someone had a problem with the dream of a United Africa, as it would mean we run things the African way, and didn’t like this idea, so contributed to the Libyan Rebellion. What are its benefits now that the soul of the old man is now at rest?

 

The media yes! the media painted a fake and vague picture about Gaddafi. Honestly in as much as they branded him a tyrant, dictator, name it all, He had Libyan interests at heart. How does it feel to have a leader who thinks about the country before himself? Rare qualities especially in Kenya. We don’t have leaders but dealers who play about with the people’s democratic right and give them baits that entice them to sing praises and vote with their heads and not hearts. I wanna share with you an inside story on Gaddafi’s ruling, and please don’t tell me about the wealth that Libya has at their disposal. He did manage these resources to have a country that is free from poverty.

Take one. We all want to own motor vehicles some day. But have we checked at how fast the pump prices are escalating? Imagine a liter of super petrol going for 120KES!!! This is absurd.. Its coz we import oil and over rely on the misbehaving dollar as the currency of choice. I think now at 120bob, the people driving wanaifeel. In Libya however they mine it, and have an abundance of it and sell a litre of petrol at KSH 14. 14 bob! Then Gadaffi is killed like a dog even after keeping this fuel as low as possible. He may have had interests in it, but even kept the country ahead of Oil Libya. You know see why only a coup de etat will evict M7I from power in Uganda coz now that they got the black gold, he wont be leaving anytime soon.

These are other Libyan stories during Gaddafi’s regime.

1. There is no electricity bill in Libya; electricity is free for all its citizens.

2. There is no interest on loans, banks in Libya are state-owned and loans given to all its citizens at 0% interest by law.

3. Home considered a human right in Libya – Gaddafi vowed that his parents would not get a house until everyone in Libya had a home. Gaddafi’s father has died while him, his wife and his mother are still living in a tent.

5. Education and medical treatments are free in Libya. Before Gaddafi only 25% of Libyans are literate. Today the figure is 83%.

6. Should Libyans want to take up farming career, they would receive farming land, a farming house, equipments, seeds and livestock to kick-start their farms – all for free.

7. If Libyans cannot find the education or medical facilities they need in Libya, the government funds them to go abroad for it – not only free but they get US$2,300/mth accommodation and car allowance.

8. In Libyan, if a Libyan buys a car, the government subsidized 50% of the price.

9. The price of petrol in Libya is $0.14 per liter.

10. Libya has no external debt and its reserves amount to $150 billion – now frozen globally. Great Man-Made River project in Libya… $27 billion

11. If a Libyan is unable to get employment after graduation the state would pay the average salary of the profession as if he or she is employed until employment is found.

12. A portion of Libyan oil sale is, credited directly to the bank accounts of all Libyan citizens.

13. A mother who gave birth to a child receive US$5,000

14. 40 loaves of bread in Libya costs $ 0.15

15. 25% of Libyans have a university degree

16. Gaddafi carried out the world’s largest irrigation project, known as the Great Man-Made River project, to make water readily available throughout the desert country.

Which other dictator has done much good to his people?

Thats the reason why I revisited Africa Kills Her Son by Ken Saro Wiwa. This was a man who ensured the above 16 facts happen to each and every citizen. He wasn’t the best, I agree, but He made Libya better than all African Countries, by far. The poor of poorest in Libya is well of here in Kenya. So I consider Libyans lucky to a certain extent and one wonders with the new democratic rule they cry for will it improve or worsen life for them. Yes, Gaddafi spent millions of Libya`s money on personal ventures but is the average Libyan poor? We know others who take a country and destroy it until you feel like there is no hope of restoring this country… looting some prefer to call it. Did Gaddafi loot Libya in any way?

Pulled out of a trench and died like a dog, Africa has Killed their son. And now the world laughs as we mourn. Look at us now? May his soul rest in eternal peace. And from your death, may they rise a generation that would unite Africa for Africa. Its time we do this our own style as the West and China are only looking to make us overdepend on them to that point where we have to lick their toes to get what we want, I long for a debt free continent, a HIV free generation, and a continent whose solutions will be home based. Its time we tell Obama, and His people, thanks but no thanks. We can handle it our way. Its time Africa regains its morality as we have been raped and defiled by our so called “friends” and indeed left us barren. Africa, Rise Unite and lets change the world.

The continent however hard it is now, misses you. And I pray that the Shariah-Law loving and trigger happy NTC will realize that they did a mistake and keep your dream alive. Africa Kills Her Son
